Coagulation Tube
Golden Vac™ blue-top blood collection tubes are used for clinical coagulation tests. Sodium citrate is used as an anticoagulant to prevent blood from clotting, filled with a buffered sodium citrate solution at a concentration of 0.109 mol/L (3.2%). The blood-to-additive ratio is 9:1, which is critical for valid prothrombin time results. Immediately after the draw, gently invert the tube 3-4 times to activate adequate anticoagulant. Aluminum composite bags are available to provide optimum protection against additive evaporation, UV light, dirt, and mechanical influences. All tubes are supplied in packs of 1000 or 1200.
