ESR Tube
ESR Tubes are designed to determine the Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate, a key clinical lab test that measures the rate at which red blood cells in whole blood settle in a standardized tube, reported as millimeters per hour. This test helps identify inflammation, as inflamed red blood cells settle faster than normal ones. The ESR Tube contains a buffered sodium citrate solution (0.129 mol/L or 3.8%) as an anticoagulant to prevent blood clotting, with a blood to additive ratio of 4:1. After collection, invert the tube 8-10 times to ensure proper mixing. These tubes come in aluminum composite bags to protect against additive evaporation, UV light, and mechanical influences.
